Lincoln & America

Tristan was at school last night so I went to the movie, Lincoln, with my dear parents.

My mom and I share a mutual feeling about President Lincoln, he's our favorite! We were so excited to see this movie and glad that it was a movie my dad would like too :)

I don't get teary in many movies (except movies that involve animals or sports) but I shed a couple tears in this movie.

Spielberg did an incredible job and Daniel Day Lewis, the man who plays the President, deserves an Emmy.

But most of all what I took from this movie was how much sacrifice went into the 13 Amendment. We can read history book again and again but I don't think we even begin to imagine the pain, sorrow and difficulty that people experienced during this time. Even seeing the movie I feel like we only got a glimpse of what it must have been like.

With the election being almost month behind us I think we all have had a difficult time and worry about our country. But I come to realize that what we're feeling doesn't being to compare with what those felt back during Lincoln's time.

I still believe that Lincoln was an amazing man, and yes a man of God. He saw this country in all it's majesty and wanted to do what was right even thought it might be hard.

Seeing this movie gave me a new found appreciation for this country.  I truly am proud to be an American!

GO SEE IT!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

It was our first thanksgiving married and it was great!

Tristan started the day off right by playing some football with friends while I stayed behind and made some yummy food with my mom.

We then were luck enough to go to Grandma Toolson's house for the 1st round of Thanksgiving and boy was it good! She is such a cute lady and we are so lucky to have her :) We then played 5 crowns and had a bunch of fun with the Tesch clan but missed Pete and Miranda! They were off to San Diego for a soccer tournament!

After we went to my parents house for round 2 with the whole family.

Mom, as usual, didn't disappoint. The food was delicious!! Especially the broccoli souffle and rolls...YUM! We played ABC thanksgiving and hid the cut out turkey and enjoyed time together.

I feel so luck to have such a wonderful family and the best husband I could ask for.

I am thankful for this holiday season and for all those I get to share it with.

Most of all I'm thankful for our Savior and the gospel, without it we would truly be lost.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
